Life moves fast, too fast sometimes. Maia, fresh past 2 years and 2 months, last weekend, was essentially hopping out of her crib. She was quick enough to have climbed out by the time we had walked back to the bedroom door after putting her in. We weren't sure she was ready to move to a toddler bed, cognitively speaking, but felt little choice considering her repeated climbing out. We figured that if she was going to be getting out of the bed when she didn't want to be there, due to be awake in the morning, we might as well have it be as safe as manner possible for her to get out.
So, we now have Maia in a toddler bed with all that entails - long evenings (thus far) of working with her to teach her to stay put so that she falls asleep. Knowing that she may very well wake us up in the morning with a face to face greeting, as happened this morning. Worrying about the inevitable night she wakes up in the middle of the night and who knows what all that will entail.
But it doesn't matter, when you look and see how proud she is to have a "big girl bed," how can you not just smile and be glad to experience whatever comes...
