On the Pumpkinvine Again

Our little community has a great asset - the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail.  Part of a program of rails to trails, the bike and walking trail follows the path of the old Pumpkinvine rail line, and meanders approximately 22 miles throughout the Amish country of northern Indiana.  The path is mostly flat, weaves back and forth with the land, and offers some relaxing scenery and a quiet place to take a walk or a bike ride.

This evening, following an early dinner on our patio (grilled brats and hot dogs), we decided to talk our first walk on the trail this year.  The kind of unexpected thing about the part we most frequently walk is the opportunity to see buffalo.  Maia was impressed.

All in all, the evening was perfect for a walk.  We did just about a mile and a half, with Maia walking (and running) about half of that.  It was good to get out, feel the cool breeze, the warm sun, and enjoy the simple but memorable moments that come from a family walk.
