Still trying to find some semblance of balance or purpose for the various Internet social tools that I use...this blog, facebook, and twitter...in part because I just end up being too wordy for small updates for facebook and twitter (although maybe I need the work at learning how to be more short winded.
Anyway, Jackie and I took Ellie for a walk around the neighborhood last night, really the first time we have done that. As mentioned in a previous post, we have been here two years, but with Toby, we never had a dog to take for a walk due to his age, and we never really ventured out on our own (I think both Jackie and I tend to not be real extroverted people). But it was such a great night, and in the process we ran into a couple people in the neighborhood and just had the small chit chat conversation you have with people that you share a neighborhood with. And Ellie got to meet another dog that didn't run away from her, and it was glad to see that she continues to react to other dogs in a positive, non-aggressive way.
I find it humorous though as to how many people we meet in the neighborhood, once they learn which house is ours, say "oh yeah, I've seen you out mowing the yard." Part of this is due to the fact that everyone who enters the neighborhood (only one entrance and exit for the subdivision), passes our house. Although I maintain, much to Jackie's chagrin, that its because I'm out there forever mowing the yard so its impossible for anyone in the neighborhood not to see me mow at some point during the spring to fall season.
The walk was really good though. Nice to meet some new people in the community, and nice to expend some of Ellie's energy to make the rest of the evening a little less rambunctious. Hopefully there will be many more walks this summer to come, because it really is such a nice and pretty neighborhood to walk around and take in.
Now Jackie and I are off to a friends house for some grilling and fellowship. Good times.
