Getting Buzz Lightyear

We've started a weekly tradition in our family over the last couple months - a family movie night every Friday night.  It works well - Jackie and I are often pretty tired by the end of the week ("Friday night tired" as my Mom would say), and its fun to introduce Maia to certain movies.  We've had a decent rotation among Frozen (which Maia got for Christmas), Monster's Inc., Cars, and the Toy Story movies.  Maia's particular favorite has been the Toy Story movies, and she has especially latched on to the Buzz Lightyear character.  As Maia is playing, we will ask her who's she talking to, or who caused something to happen while she is playing, and the answer is always a cheerful, "Buzz Lightyear."

Well, in my previous post I mentioned my flight down to Orlando to visit with my Dad and experience some Detroit Tigers' Spring Training.  After the game in Lakeland, we headed back to the Orlando area to stay for the night.  Between Lakeland and Orlando is Walt Disney World, and Disney is the maker of the Toy Story movies.  My Dad was gracious enough to drive me to Downtown Disney, we made our way to the World of Disney store, to see if I could find a Buzz Lightyear toy for Maia.

I know we could have ordered one online, but the prospect of bringing back the toy from this short two day trip for Maia, particularly in light of our plans already in the works to go to Disney after Maia turns 4 for her birthday, means this was an opportunity just too good to pass up.  Disney didn't disappoint (and also made me yearn for that trip in 20 months time), and I was able to find about a 12" tall Buzz Lightyear action figure, just like the toy from the movies.

Giving it to Maia certainly did not disappoint...

And video, of course...

The Assembly Line of Attention

Well, hello there (in my best Obi-Wan Kenobi impersonation). It's been over two years since I last posted anything here, and even then I...
