It's a reminder of some of the pain and anguish we went through before the adoption process. Its a reminder of the nervousness and patience of the adoption process. And of course, its a reminder of the pure joy we felt on a day like two years ago, when our adoption of Maia was finalized and we had the family we always wanted.
Certain days always stick with people - birthdays, wedding anniversaries, graduations, etc. - but for us, May 9th will always be Adoption Day first and foremost, and will always be one of the most important days of the year. A day to remember and celebrate the gift that Maia was, is, and will continue to be.
