I had seen my Dad for a couple days in March when my parents flew me down to take in a Tigers spring training game, but otherwise I hadn't seen him since October, and hadn't seen my mom since then. And by extension, that means neither Jackie nor Maia had seen them since October. And for that matter, we hadn't seen my sister and her crew since Christmas, due to the way winter just seems to discourage traveling and how life just rolls along without stopping for anyone.
In any event, it was a great day. Despite the forecast, we avoided any rain, and that allowed the kids - Gavin, just turned 7, Bree, almost 5, and Maia, almost 2 1/2, to get outside and burn energy running around the yard and on bikes. Meanwhile, the rest of us enjoyed some scrumptious chicken tacos for dinner, and each other's company.
Days go by quick, moments quicker. They build, and without paying attention, months and then years pass. Family bonds in so many ways. These little quick trips are moments that serve as a good reminders to me to be thankful that I am part of a family that, simply, has a good time together. Its something to be cherished and appreciated.
