shoveling

We got our first real snow last night (at least while we were home), this first picture being from about 5 or so, with just about 1.5 - 2 inches on the ground.  This morning we had close to 4 inches I guess, so I decided to go out and shovel.  From the looks of my neighbors, I was the only one either stupid enough or crazy enough to do this.  I know 4 inches aren't a lot, but I felt like doing it.

Part of may be that I am still use to driving the Echo and needing all the help it could get to enter the driveway.  See, our driveway is lower than the road, with the last 7 feet or so of the driveway grading up ever so slightly to meet the road.  So when the snow plow comes through and it hasn't been shoveled, it doubles the height, so 4 inches becomes 8.  With the Echo, whenever we had a little snow like this, and I didn't shovel, I would have to get a good 15-20 mph head start and plow into the bank at the end of the driveway to successfully either leave or enter the driveway.  Or the Echo would easily get stuck on the bank.  It really didn't occur to me until about halfway through that I didn't need to worry about that with the new Sportage and its higher ground clearance.

Oh well...with more snow supposedly coming on Thursday and then maybe next Monday, its nice to know that at least all that snow won't be compacted on our driveway, and its clear for once.

Anyway, hopefully will get around sometime today and post some pictures from mine and Jackie's recent trip to Indianapolis.
