I mentioned in my post last night that I was trying my cooking skills at making Carmelitas, a recipe that as pinned by a good friend on one of her Pinterest's board. Tonight, the review...
I picked them in part because I thought the recipe was fairly simple, and it was. Everything was straightforward, easy to follow, and the preparation and baking process yielded no surprises.
We were over at friends' and had them for dessert tonight (along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream), and all the adults agreed, they were a hit. However, when there nearly 4 year old son asked what they were, we described them as a sort of brownie. Later, during a stirring rendition of the "Monkeys and the Alligator" song, he stopped, mid-lyric, to inform us that "the brownies have seeds!" Good laughs all around.
My (very successful and delicious) carmelitas...
